American Breakfast Sandwich

What You'll Need

  • 2 Alpha Breakfast Sausage patties
  • 2 English muffins
  • 1 tomato
  • 2 slices cheese (preferably American Cheddar)*
  • 4 tbsp. oil
  • 2 cups packed fresh basil leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts
  • 2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Pecorino cheese*
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste


Special equipment needed: food processor

* substitute Biolife dairy-free cheese to create a vegan-friendly meal


Pesto Sauce

  1. Combine the basil, garlic, and pine nuts in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped
  2. Add 1/2 cup of the oil and process until fully incorporated and smooth. Season with salt and pepper
  3. Add all the remaining oil and pulse until smooth
  4. Transfer the pesto to a large serving bowl and mix in the cheese

Breakfast Sandwich

  1. Slice the English muffins in half and place in toaster. Toast to preference
  2. Slice the tomato into thin slices
  3. Add 2 tbsp. of oil to a skillet and cook on medium/low until the oil is hot
  4. Place frozen patties into skillet and top each with 1 tbsp. oil
  5. Brown for 2.5 minutes each side until warm throughout
  6. Place warm patty onto English muffin
  7. Top with cheese slice, then add tomato and a tbsp. of pesto sauce
  8. Serve and enjoy!
